RD's Patient Story

A Foot Wound Responds to Regenerative Therapy and a Skin Graft

RD, a male in his seventies with a foot drop (a condition in which a person has difficulty lifting their ankle and toes upward), failed to wear his foot brace as instructed, and developed a wound on the middle of the bottom of his foot. He was taken to the operating room, where his wound was surgically debrided and a skin-like material called Integra was placed in the wound. Two weeks later, he was taken back to the operating room for a skin graft performed by Dr. Thomas Davenport and his plastic surgery team. The skin was taken from his thigh and sewn onto his foot over the area with the wound. There were no complications and the wound healed completely, to the point where the patient was able to return to normal walking capabilities.
